CAT Tools
What is a CAT tool?
CAT means “Computer Assisted Translation”. CAT tools are programs that store previously translated source texts and their equivalent target texts in a database called Translation Memory and retrieve related segments during the translation of new texts. This type of software only supports the work of professional translators, therefore it should not be confused with machine translation.
Why should you use a CAT tool?
The main advantages of using CAT tools are:-improved terminology consistency across the entire content
-the translation can be re-used due to the fact that it is stored in the translation memory
-increased speed and productivity
-the possibility to offer discounts
